Events – 2024

Each year, we participate in a number of local shows and community events to give people an opportunity to learn more about beekeeping, the importance of bees and how they can be helped.  You can usually also buy some of our members’ honey.

Croxley Revels – 22nd June

The WHBKA has supported the Croxley Revels on Croxley Green for many years and it is the most important community event in our calendar.

The Croxley Revels is one of the largest traditional summer village fayres held annually on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice. The Revels, which includes a traditional Maypole dance, dates back to the 1920’s and was featured in Metro-land, the 1973 television documentary by John Betjeman.

At our stand, you can meet beekeepers, try and buy honey, try home-made honey cake and find out more about the many beautiful plants you can grow to help pollinators.  You may even see a queen bee in our display hive!

Choosing Bee-friendly plants

In 2012, we were delighted to win the Algy Hedges Plate for the most original stall, presented by David Gauke MP. In 2015, our stall won the Coach and Horses Cup for the most original stall which was also presented by David Gauke MP.  Why not come and judge for yourself!

We would like to thank Ayletts Nurseries for providing a superb selection of bee friendly plants for us to display every year since 2016.
