Fat all around with yellow, orange, and\/or black colouring.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Thick wings visible when landed.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Various sizes from 2-5cm.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Small nests of 5-500 members.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Bumblebees do not produce a honey surplus like honeybees.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Queens are the only bee to overwinter in hibernation.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Bumblebees are not aggressive and will only sting when the hive is threatened.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Bumblebee nests should be left undisturbed until the winter months when they will die out naturally.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information about Bumblebees&nbsp;go to:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/bumblebeeconservation.org\/\">http:\/\/bumblebeeconservation.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Honey Bee<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Honey bees represent only a small fraction of 20,000 known species of bees.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Small body, furry torso, sleek abdomen, and thin wings.<\/em><\/li><li><em>About 2.5cm in length<\/em><\/li><li><em>Colonies can contain as many as 25,000 bees.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Play a major role in pollination of flowers and crops.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Female &#8216;workers&#8217; can sting only once, but the male &#8216;drones&#8217; cannot sting at all <\/em><\/li><li><em>Produce a honey comb and honey surplus<\/em><\/li><li><em>Large portion of the colony overwinters with the queen<\/em><\/li><li><em>Honeybees will defend their hive but are generally calm and unaggressive &#8211; even when swarming<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wasp<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>There are solitary wasps and social wasps<\/em><\/li><li><em>Social wasps exist in colonies numbering up to several thousand and build nests of chewed wood.<\/em><\/li><li><em>They can sting more than once.<\/em><\/li><li><em>They have few or no thickened hairs&nbsp;(in contrast to bees).<\/em><\/li><li><em>They are predators \u2013 mostly on other insects.<\/em><\/li><li><em>The vast majority of wasps play no role in pollination,<\/em><\/li><li><em>Although mainly carnivorous, they will steal nectar if they can by raiding honey bee colonies.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Only the queen survives the winter.
